1. In the cross of Christ I glory
\n\tTowering o’er the wrecks of time;
\n\tAll the light of sacred story
\n\tGathers round its head sublime<\/p>\n
\t2. When the woes of life o’ertake me
\n\tHopes deceive, and fears annoy,
\n\tNever shall the cross forsake me;
\n\tLo! It grows with peace and joy.<\/p>\n
\t3. When the sun of bliss is beaming
\n\tLight and love upon my way,
\n\tFrom the cross the radiance streaming
\n\tAdds more luster to the day<\/p>\n
\t4. Bane and blessing pain and pleasure,
\n\tBy the cross are sanctified;
\n\tPeace is there that knows no measure,
