1. Lo. how a Rose ever blooming
\n\tFrom tender stem hath sprung!
\n\tOf Jesus’ lineage coming
\n\tAs men of old have sung.
\n\tIt came, a flower bright
\n\tAmid the cold of winter.
\n\tWhen half-gone was the night<\/p>\n
\t2. Isaiah twas foretold it,
\n\tThe Rose I have in mind;
\n\tWith Mary we behold it,
\n\tThe virgin mother kind
\n\tTo sow God’s love aright
\n\tShe bore to men a Saviour.
\n\tWhen half-gone was the night.<\/p>\n
\t3. This flower, whose fragrance tender
\n\tWith sweetness fills the air,
\n\tDispels with glorious splendor,
\n\tThe darkness everywhere.
