1. A virgin most pure, as the prophets do tell, sin.
\n\tHath brought forth a baby, as it hath befell,
\n\tTo be our Redeemer from death, hell and sin
\n\tWhich Adam’s transgression hath wrapped us in.<\/p>\n
\tChorus:
\n\tAnd therefore be merry,set sorrow aside;
\n\tChrist Jesus our Saviour! Was born on this tide. <\/p>\n
\t2. In Bethlehem in Jewry, a city, there was
\n\tWhere Joseph and Mary together did pass,
\n\tAll for to be taxed with many one more,
\n\tFor Caesar commanded the same should be<\/p>\n
\t3. But when they had entered the city so
\n\tfair, A number of people so mighty was there,
\n\tThat Joseph and Mary, whose substance was small,
\n\tCould find in the inn there no lodging at all.<\/p>\n
\t4. Then were they constrained in stable to lie,
\n\tWhere horses and asses they used for to tie
\n\tTheir lodging so simple they took it no scorn
\n\tBut against the next morning our Saviour was bom.<\/p>\n
\t5. The King of all kings to this world being brought,
\n\tSmall store of fine linen to wrap Him was sought,
\n\tBut when she had swaddled her young son sa sweet,
