1. O word of God incarnate,
\n\tO wisdom from on high,
\n\tO Truth unchanged, unchanging.
\n\tO light of our dark sky.
\n\tWe praise thee for the radiance
\n\tA lantern o our footsteps,
\n\tShines on from age to age.
\n\tThat from the hallowed page,<\/p>\n
\t2. The Church from thee, her Master,
\n\tReceiveth the gift divine,
\n\tAnd still that light she lifteth
\n\tOver all the earth to shine;
\n\tI is the sacred casket,
\n Where gems of truth are stored;
\n\tIt is the heaven-drawn picture
\n\tOf thee, the living Word.<\/p>\n
\t3. It floateth like a banner
\n\tBefore God’s host unfurled;
\n\tIt shineth like a beacon
\n\tAbove the darkling world;
