1. From Greenland’s icy mountains,
\n\tFrom India’s coral strand;
\n\tWhere Afric’s sunny fountain
\n\tRoll down their golden sand:
\n\tFrom many ancient river, From many a palmy plain.
\n\tThey call us to deliver
\n\tTheir land from error’s chain<\/p>\n
\t2. What though the spicy breezes
\n\tBlow soft o’er Ceylon’s isle;
\n\tThough every prospect pleases
\n\tAnd only man is vile?
\n\tIn vain with lavish kindness
\n\tThe gifts of God are strown:
\n\tThe heathen in his blindness
\n\tBows down to wood and stone<\/p>\n
\t3. Shall we, whose souls are lighted
\n\tWith wisdom from on high, Shall we to men benighted
\n\tThe lamp of life deny?
