Hymn 351 A MIGHTY FORTRESS Lyrics<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
1. A mighty fortress is our God,
\n\tA bulwark never failing: Our helper
\n\tHe, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
\n\tFor still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woo;
\n\tHis craft and power are great, And armed with cruel hate,
\n\tOn earth is not his equal.<\/p>\n
\t2. Did we in our own strength confide,
\n\tOur striving would be losing, Were not the right
\n\tMan on our side, The Man of God’s own choosing
\n\tDost ask who that may be Christ Jesus, it is He;
\n\tLord Sabaoth is His name from age to age the same,
\n\tAnd He must win the battle.<\/p>\n
\t3. And though this world, with devils filled,
\n\tShould threaten to undo us. We will not fear,
\n\tfor God hath willed His truth to triumph through us.
\n\tThe prince of darkness grim – We tremble not for him;
\n\tHis rage we can endure, For lo! His doom is sure
\n\tOne little word shall fell him,<\/p>\n
\t4. That word above all earthly powers –
\n\tNo thanks to them abideth. The spirit and the gifts
\n\tare ours Thro’ Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go.
\n\tThis mortal life also: The body they may kill,
