1. We are often tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time,
\n\tSomber skies and howling tempests off
\n\tsucceed a Bright sunshine, In that land of perfect day.
\n\tWhen the mists have rolled away.
\n\tWe will understand it better by and by<\/p>\n

\n\t(by and by) by and by when the morning comes.
\n\tWhen the saints of God art gathered home.
\n\tWe’ll tell the story how we overcome;

\t2. We are often destitute of the things that life demands,
\n\tWant of food and want of shelter thirsty hills and barren lands,
\n\tWe are trusting in the Lord, and according to His word,
\n\twe will understand it better by and by<\/p>\n
\t3. Trials dark on evry hand, and we cannot understand,
\n\tAll the ways that God would leadest o that
\n\tblessed Promised Land But He guides us
