1. I long ago left Egypt, for the promised land,
\n\tI trusted in my Saviour and to His guiding hand,
\n\tHe led me out to vict’ry thro’ the great red sea,
\n\tI sang a song of triumph, and shouted “I am free”<\/p>\n
\tChorus:
\n\tYou need not look for me, down in Egypt’s sand.
\n\tFor I have pitched my tent far up in Beulah land:
\n\tYou tent far up in Beulah land.<\/p>\n
\t2. I followed close beside Him and the land soon found,
\n\tI did not halt or tremble, for Canaan I was bound,
\n\tMy Guide I fully trusted and He led me in,
\n\tI shouted “hallelujah, my heart is free from sin”<\/p>\n
\t3. I started for the highlands where the fruits abound,
\n\tI pitched my tent near Hebron, there grapes of eshicol found.
\n\tWith milk and honey flowing and new wine so free,
\n\tI have no love for Egypt, it has no charms for me<\/p>\n
\t4. My heart is so enraptured as I press along.
\n\tEach day I find new blessing which fill my hear with song,
\n I’m ever marching onward to that land on high.
