1. My heart was distressed ‘neath Jehovah’s dread frown,
\n\tAnd low in the pit where my sins dragged me down;
\n\tI cried to the Lord from the deep miry clay.
\n\tWho tenderly brought me out to golden day<\/p>\n
\tChorus:
\n\tHe bro’t me out of the miry clay,
\n\tHe set my feet on the Rock to stay:
\n\tHe puts a song in my soil today,
\n\tA song of praise, hallelujah!<\/p>\n
\t2. He placed me upon the strong Rock by His side;
\n\tMy steps were established and here I’ll abide,
\n\tNo danger of falling while here I remain,
\n\tBut stand by His grace until the crown I gain<\/p>\n
\t3. He gave me a song ’twas a new song of praise,
\n\tBy day and by night its sweet notes I will raise;
\n\tMy heart’s o’verflowing. I’m happy and free,
\n\tI’ll praise my Redeemer, who has rescued me.<\/p>\n
