1. Be gone, unbelief!
\n\tMy Saviour is near,
\n\tAnd for my relief.
\n\tWill surely appear.
\n\tBy prayer let me wrestle,
\n\tAnd He will perform
\n\tWith Christ in the vessel,
\n\tI smile at the storm<\/p>\n
\t2. If dark be my way,
\n\tSince He is my guide
\n\t‘Tis mine to obey.
\n\t‘Tis His to provide
\n\tThough cisterns be broken,
\n\tAnd creatures fail.
\n\tThe word He hath spoken,
\n\tShall surdly prevail.<\/p>\n
\t3. His love in time past.
\n\tForbids me to think
\n\tHe’ll leave me at last,
\n\tIn trouble to sink:
\n\tEach sweet Ebenezer,
\n\tI have in review
\n\tConfirms His Good Pleasure
\n\tTo help me quite through.<\/p>\n
\t4. Why should I complain
\n\tOf want or distress,
\n\tTemptation or pain?
\n\tHe told me no less;
\n\tThe heirs of salvation,
\n\tI know from His Word,
\n\tThrough much tribulation
\n\tMust follow their Lord.
\n\t5
\n\tHow bitter that cup
\n\tNo heart can conceive,
\n\tWhich He drank quite up,
\n\tThat sinners might live!
\n\tHis way was much rougher
\n\tAnd darker than mine;
\n\tDid Christ, my Lord, suffer,
\n\tAnd shall I repine?<\/p>\n
\t6. Since all that I meet
\n\tShall work for my good,
\n\tThe bitter is sweet,
\n\tThe medicine, food;
\n\tThough painful at present,
\n\t‘Twill cease before long,
\n\tAnd then, oh, how pleasant
